I made this set for for a little boy that came into my studio for his newborn photo shoot. Before the photo shoot, his dad mentioned that he really liked red. Red is one of my favourite colours too, so I decided to make a special outfit for the session that would focus on this bold, stunning colour. I was a bit concerned that the red would overwhelm since it can be such a strong colour, but I found a great shade that was more of a burgundy hue. Combined with the grey, it was a great choice for this little guy. The red brought out the rosiness in his cheeks, and the grey made the outfit masculine enough so that he wouldn’t be confused for a baby girl.
If you make this set, you can of course use whichever colours you like. Feel free to mix and match various combinations to make your own unique version of this bonnet and overalls set. The beauty of this pattern is that you can make many versions, by simply switching up the colours. Whether you are a newborn photographer or making this outfit to sell, I know you will love this pattern set for this reason. Not to mention that it is knit on straight needles for those of you that avoid circular knitting.
